Raw Materials for Manufacturing Stainless Steel Parts
According to the definition in GB/T20878-2007, stainless steel parts refer to steel with a chromium content of at least 10.5%, a carbon content of less than 1.2%, and other alloying elements. A chromium oxide layer forms on the surface of the material, which acts as a passivation layer and has a unique self-healing ability. Stainless steel also contains elements such as nickel (Ni), titanium (Ti), manganese (Mn), nitrogen (N), niobium (Nb), molybdenum (Mo), silicon (Si), and copper (Cu). Due to its many excellent properties, stainless steel has always been one of the most commonly used metals in manufacturing.
Types of Stainless Steel
Austenitic
Non-magnetic, good formability, cold-workable, but not heat-treatable. Austenitic stainless steel is corrosion-resistant but prone to stress corrosion cracking. Commonly used in the manufacture of shafts, valves, bolts, bushings, nuts, aircraft parts, and cryogenic containers. Austenitic stainless steel is divided into 200 and 300 series, with common grades including 201, 202, 301, 302, 303, 304, 305, 308, 309, 310, 314, 316, 317, 321, 347, 348, and 384.
Ferritic
Magnetic, but with lower ductility and corrosion resistance than austenitic stainless steel. Ferritic stainless steel has high resistance to stress corrosion cracking, can be cold-worked, but cannot be heat-treatable. Commonly used in the manufacture of heat exchangers, automotive fasteners, and furnace components. Ferritic stainless steel belongs to the 400 series, with common grades including 405, 409, 430, 434, 436, 442, and 446.
Martensitic
It is magnetic, heat-treatable, and has higher strength than ferritic stainless steel, but poorer corrosion resistance. It is commonly used to manufacture pump shafts, bolts and screws, valves, bushings, rivets, coal hoppers, jet engine components, aircraft parts, mining machinery, and fire extinguisher liners. Martensitic stainless steel belongs to the 400 and 500 series, with common grades including 410, 414, 416, 420, 431, and 440.
Precipitation Hardening Grade
This type of stainless steel can be heat-treatable and is generally much stronger than austenitic stainless steel, retaining most of its strength at high temperatures. Often called PH type stainless steel, it is used to manufacture military equipment and aircraft structural components. Common grades include 17-7 PH, PH 15-7 Mo, 17-4 PH, and 15-5 PH.
Duplex
Duplex stainless steel is a mixture of austenitic and ferritic stainless steel, renowned for its extremely high strength and resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Duplex stainless steel is easy to heat treat, but difficult to cold form. It is commonly used in the manufacture of chemical equipment, pressure vessels, and heat exchanger components. Common UNS grades include S32101, S32304, S32003, S31803, S32205, S32760, S32750, S32550, S32707, and S33207.

OEM Mass Production Capability
We customize stainless steel parts according to customer drawings and production requirements. Batch size depends on the part’s geometry, weight, machining time, and assembly application. Small, lightweight parts may require larger batches, while large, heavy parts are typically produced in medium or high batches. Each project is evaluated based on machining complexity and production schedule. However, we are not a single-piece prototype workshop producing only 5 to 10 finished products. Samples can be provided before mass production if needed. Mass production can begin once the samples are approved. The final confirmed production quantity must take into account machining time, setup complexity, and part dimensions. Batch size depends on technical feasibility and production efficiency.

What Are The Manufacturing Tolerances For Custom Stainless Steel Parts?
The tolerance levels for custom stainless steel parts vary depending on factors such as project requirements and design complexity. We typically achieve dimensional tolerances within the range of +/- 0.005 to 0.001 inches (0.127 to 0.0254 mm). We strictly adhere to quality control processes to ensure all parts meet specified dimensions. Standard machining tolerances conform to ISO 2768-mK standards, and tighter tolerances are available upon request.
The geometric tolerances achievable through CNC machining of stainless steel are typically within the range of +/- 0.002 to 0.0005 inches (0.051 to 0.0127 mm). CNC machining can achieve a variety of surface finishes for custom stainless steel parts, typically ranging from approximately 32 to 500 microinches (0.8 to 12.7 micrometers) Ra. The tolerance levels for custom precision CNC stainless steel parts are general guidelines; actual achievement of these standards depends on a variety of factors.
Sample and Production Lead Time
Sample delivery time is typically 10 to 12 days, depending on the complexity of the parts. Standard production batches are generally completed within 20 to 25 days, depending on quantity and processing requirements. Repeat batch orders are typically completed within 15 to 20 days under normal production planning. Delivery dates will be confirmed during the quotation review phase following technical evaluation.

Large-Scale Custom Stainless Steel Product Assembly Experts
We frequently handle highly customized stainless steel assemblies, sometimes exceeding 10,000 parts. To address this, we’ve developed specialized technologies and customized processes for stainless steel products requiring assembly. These technologies and processes enable us to efficiently handle large assemblies while maintaining model stability, consistent part naming, and rapidly generating CAM files suitable for manufacturing. Once the files and drawings are ready, we digitally distribute them to the production workshop via iPads, facilitating efficient communication. Now, all necessary updates are centralized on a single server and quickly synced to all iPads in the workshop. Similarly, workshop technicians can add annotations to drawings and take photos of the manufacturing process, product features, and the final product. All this information is stored in work files for future reference. Our ISO 9001:2015 auditors consistently praised this communication system, finding it robust, reliable, easy to use, and ensuring consistent and accurate information for complex assemblies produced in our custom stainless steel product environment.
Packaging and Shipping Preparation
Packaging methods depend on the geometry and surface finish requirements of the parts. During shipping, parts are protected against edge damage and surface scratches. Large orders are divided into controlled quantities into individual cartons to ensure parts safety and accurate quantity. If parts have undergone surface treatment, packaging methods are adjusted to prevent damage to the coating during shipping. The choice of shipping method depends on order size, urgency, and agreed delivery terms.
