Prototyping and Short-Run Production
As a versatile machine shop serving the medical, manufacturing and semiconductor industries, Elimold offers prototyping and short-run CNC machining services. Our capabilities include milling, turning and drilling a wide variety of materials including steel, stainless steel, plastics, ceramics and composites. Any component that can be manufactured in production can be prototyped by experienced machinists in our fully equipped tool room. For single or low-volume work, parts can be machined on manual equipment to avoid any specialized tooling costs. We can manufacture parts up to 60 inches in length and 30 inches in width, depending on geometry and machining methods.
SURFCAM Velocity software can be used to generate a 3D model of the design prior to manufacturing, while CMM equipment can verify all dimensional tolerances after machining. Dimensional tolerances can be maintained to within ±0.0002″ as specified. Our entire team is dedicated to providing our customers with high-quality parts, fast turnaround and personalized customer service. Local delivery is available, and custom stocking programs can be designed based on customer needs.

Benefits of Short-Term Machining

When we work on smaller jobs, we usually have raw materials available and can start working faster. This reduces lead time and gets the part to you faster. Getting parts and fulfilling customer orders as quickly as possible is always a top priority. People don’t want to wait weeks or months to receive their orders.
Short-term CNC machining also enables you to make small changes to the part. You may want to start with a small order for project V1 and then leave room for future adjustments. Prototyping helps you refine and verify the design so that your brand can release the right product. It is quick and easy to make small adjustments with CNC machining.
3D printing can be used for some prototypes, but it is not ideal when you need metal parts or parts with tight tolerances.
Short-term jobs are often used for prototype parts, products that can be customized by the end user, or small companies that do not need a large supply of stock.
