Why Choose Elimold Over Xometry?

Elimold is a true manufacturing partner, providing collaborative pre and post order DFM support from technical experts and ensuring consistent part quality through a rigorously vetted supplier network held to stringent quality standards. In contrast, Xometry’s hands off marketplace approach lacks the oversight and engineering partnership needed to reliably deliver high quality products.

Elimold v. Xometry: Quality

When it comes to quality, Elimold stands out as the superior choice over Xometry. Unlike Xometry, which positions itself as a “Marketplace Company” – often prioritizing price over quality, Elimold puts quality first.
Xometry’s supplier onboarding process consists only of filling out forms and Zoom interviews, resulting in its partners lacking a robust quality management system. In contrast, Elimold not only has in-house manufacturing facilities but also a network of rigorously selected manufacturing centers that meet stringent quality standards, undergo weekly performance reviews, hold industry certifications, and are subject to strict on-site audits.

Quality Control

Elimold provides rigorous inspections with highly trained quality professionals who examine all parts. This dedicated oversight ensures that every component meets strict quality standards before it reaches the customer.

Elimold provides inspections of each part prior to shipment, enabling customers to visually verify parts meet their quality and specification requirements.

Xometry outsources inspections, giving them less control over the consistency and reliability of their quality assurance practices. Xometry lacks Elimold’s level of assurance—vital in todays competitive manufacturing landscape.

Xometry’s lack of visual documentation might leave customers without a clear understanding of the final product’s quality, causing critical timeline lapses when quality issues arise.

Vetted Network of Global Manufacturing Centers
Manufacturing centers must complete test parts and are subject to approval based off of inspection of the test parts. They are continuously monitored and rated.Xometry operates primarily as a marketplace, prioritizing low costs and connecting customers with a wide range of suppliers.

Elimold v. Xometry : Capabilities

Elimold offers 7 primary manufacturing processes, finishing, and assembly, and gives customers the ability to fully specify geometry, dimensions, and tolerances for each part feature.

Elimold allows 2D drawings to be uploaded with GD&T, drawing notes, and in-platform annotation. This means a design engineer’s intent will always be conveyed to the manufacturing team making a part. This also ensures that tight tolerances, as well as critical surfaces will be machined per the customer’s specification.

Elimold is capable of CNC machining and assembling parts up to 34 feet long at tight tolerances.

Xometry only offers manufacturing per 3D models. If you are a skilled engineer, you know how much of the design intent is left behind without a proper 2D drawing. Xometry manufactures in accordance with the 3D geometry and features as specified in the quote.

Xometry also reserves the right to modify specifications and requires customers to pay additional fees associated with these modifications.

Xometry is capable of CNC machining parts up to 6 feet long.

Elimold v. Xometry : DFM & DFX

Elimold offers pre- and post-order Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback, which increases efficiency and optimizes costs. Elimold has a team of experts who routinely review 2D drawings or 3D models to provide DFM feedback that will ensure the success of a customer’s design.

Xometry offers auto-DFM for some processes pre-order, but not for Injection Molding. The lack of guided expertise can result in variability in quality and service, making Elimold the clear choice for those seeking dependable and high-quality manufacturing solutions.
