We also offer custom shafts with diameters ranging from 1/32 inches to 1-1/2 inches, with tight tolerances and straightness up to 0.0003 inches per inch. We produce helical gears, spur gears, bevel gears (straight, spiral, and hypoid gears), worm gears, as well as sprockets, hubs, splines, and gear shafts. We have eight gear machining machines, enabling in-house cutting, hobbing, and grinding of gears.
The MOQ depends on the manufacturing process. The MOQ for machined copper gears is 100 pieces; powder metallurgy and metal injection molding (MIM) copper gears typically require orders of 5000 pieces or more to justify the mold. For prototyping, wire EDM or CNC milling can be used for single-piece orders.
Prototype copper gear manufacturing takes 5-10 working days. Regarding production cycles, CNC hobbing of copper gears takes 2-4 weeks, grinding of copper gears takes 3-5 weeks, and powder metallurgy or metal injection molding (MIM) takes 4-6 weeks. Mold development requires an additional 2-4 weeks (for powder metallurgy and MIM processes).
We perform carburizing, induction hardening, nitriding, solid hardening, and precipitation hardening processes through qualified heat treatment partners, all of whom have full certifications.
Prototype copper gears typically meet ISO 1328 grade 6-8 standards. Precision ground copper gears can achieve grade 4-5 standards. Final tolerances depend on dimensions, material, heat treatment, and process selection.
We can provide not only light assembly services, but also shaft press-fitting, bearing installation, lubrication, and functional testing of gearboxes and drive modules. We can also customize and manufacture other components for complete sub-assemblies.
We strongly recommend prototyping new designs, especially for high-volume production. Prototyping can be done using methods such as wire EDM, CNC milling, or soft molds, depending on the geometry and quantity.
Both are possible. If you provide drawings, we will manufacture the copper gear to specifications. If you do not have drawings, please provide a worn or damaged gear, and we will reverse engineer it, measuring the number of teeth, pitch, pressure angle, and bore diameter, and then cut a matching replacement copper gear.
